Be aware that petrol doesn't last forever, and goes off after about 12 months. This degradation may cause starting issues, so if you are a light user don't top the tank up full but put a small amount a a time in.
Make sure that you store the tractor indoors, in a garage or large shed. Don't expose it to the elements permanently if you want to avoid reliability issues.
